Rain rate MAX?

Hi, I have a WH1080 and was wondering what the MAX rain rate / hour is of this rain gauge. Does anyone know?
Or is there no upper limit?

Thanks

Larry

I don't think there's a defined limit as such, it will be down to physical factors, like how quickly the mechanism can tip. The station doesn't actually supply a rain rate anyway.

Oh! What does the station supply? Cumulus gives a rate, so what is supplied to cumulus?

Thanks

All the station has is a counter that increments every time the rain gauge tips. That's all Cumulus gets. So it has to work everything out from that, including the rain rate. At the moment the algorithm is simply the amount of rain that fell in the last 5 minutes, multiplied by 12. For example, if 0.3 mm of rain fell in the last 5 minutes, Cumulus shows a rain rate of 3.6 mm/hr.

I did have a go at a more sophisticated algorithm, but it was a bit buggy so I scrapped it. At some point, in Cumulus 2, I'll have another go.

Great! Thanks for that explanation.
