A couple of issues

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

A couple of issues

Post by Nykita »

First off let me say I really like this version, it’s going to be sweet when the bugs get chased out!!!! Thanks so much for your efforts!!

Win 7 sp1 CumulusMX 3001

Just a couple of issues so far, and the bad thing is they are probably caused by my stupidity...

I have to turn off the Windows firewall on the computer that CumulusMX is hosted on to be able to access it from other computers on my network. It works fine on the host computer with the Windows firewall on. Thank goodness for router firewalls!!!

On the gauges page:
The temp reads the proper value on outside temp (°F is what I have ticked), Gauge face is marked °C and it displays °C on inside temps..

The rain fall and rain rate are marked mm_mm/h when I have (in) ticked in the settings. They do seem to be reading in inches from what I can tell from yesterdays data.

Barometer is marked hpa when I have inHg ticked it is showing 29 six times, 30 five times, and 31 two times. The reading seems to be correct in inHg by my best guestimate as to where the pointer lands..

I hope you can figure out my rambling, I was an auto mechanic for 46 years (Retired in 2012) and I am certainly NOT a computer expert!!!

See this Topic https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=12932, edit in 2nd post you have to set up an inbound rule for port 8998.

Thanks - I'll try to fix the gauges units problems in the next build.

Looking good, with the exception of on gauges page the gauges have proper markings, but the indoor temp is displaying in °c on the °F scale.. (Reading 22.7 when it is actually 72.9 °F) if I refresh the page I get the°C scale (Cute trick  ) On the current data page it is also indicating °C temp reading but it shows °F in the right hand panel, and the barometer scale still looks off..

Yeah, I know, I need to conform to more modern parameters. (I'm too old to change my ways now!!!)

No hurry on corrections, I'm just reporting them as I find them.. If I wait I will forget what it was I wanted to report...

One other thing I have noticed is: After I got my firewall issue straightened out all computers access CumulusMX as they should. One little quirk I have noticed is, if I have CMX running on three different computers only the last one refreshed will keep updating, the other two give me the red down arrow in the last update box on the dashboard page, if I refresh one with the red down arrow it keeps getting updated but the one that was updating stops updating and gives me the red down arrow.

This happens no matter if I am running IE11, Firefox, or Chrome. All with the latest updates.

Someone may ask "why in the world do you need three instances of CMX running?" I can't answer that, it's just something I noticed when checking my progress on the Win7 firewall.

The problem is that I took Mark's code, butchered it for my purposes, and broke it. Mark wrote lots of code to handle units correctly, but I'm not using his code in the way he intended so I need to hack in some more code to do the units properly.

I spotted something similar but in the same browser. If you have two tabs open on the dashboard page, only the latest one updates. It apparently can only handle one connection, I'll need to find out why.

I want to report the inside temp is now reading correctly in °F, thanks, seeing that made me have cold chills.... :o

In gauges the scale markings are still off in Pressure, rainfall, and rain rate.. Not complaining, Just wanted to let you know there is progress being made...

Thanks for all you do!!!

Yep, the gauge scales need a decimal place adding for imperial units. On my phone at the mo. if Steve needs a nudge I can take a look in the morning.

OK, I had a quick look, and it will take a bit of sorting out. There are some variable scope problems, and JSON issues. I'll talk to Steve tomorrow about getting it fixed.

Would you try this version of the gauges.js script for me. Just replace (after taking a copy) the version in <cumulusmx>/interface/js

Ah, not so simple! :bash: I see that the dashboard page also uses this script, and my changes may have fixed the gauges page, but broken the dashboard page.

This version should work for both the dashboard and the gauges pages.

Mark, I swapped out the gauges.js file, and the rainfall, and rain rate seem to be correct now, We have had no rain today so the zeros are correct.

Now all I see is the barometer is still a little funny looking... :)

Are the gauges on a sliding scale? I notice with no rain it only shows .50 for maximum, if say we have say.75 or maybe even one inch of rain do the scales adjust? I know this is probably a silly question , it's just that I have never used these before...

Thanks for your help, I know Steve can use the help with all he has to do right now...

Hi, yes the gauges auto-rescale if you exceed the maximum. Thanks for testing, I'll take a look at the barometer - that's the one I didn't test as it would have messed up my data to change the units.

Try this version, MX uses different mixed case for some of the JSON variables from my 'standard' gauges, I had replaced some but not all occurrences - I think I've got them all now!
