Yes indeed I did as that is when I went to work and came back home! So the PC needs to be turned on and connected to Cumulus 24/7 for best results? Will it sort itself out tonight providing the PC it turned on and Cumulus connected? If the PC is not turned on all day, is this going to affect any other data? I tend to switch the PC off when not at home.steve wrote:You're allowing your PC to suspend while Cumulus is running. It was suspended between 15:28 yesterday and 01:16 today, so Cumulus wasn't running at midnight when it would have done the end of day 'rollover'.
I recall unplugging the USB this morning in error with Cumulus running. So to summarise what I think I have learned from this:steve wrote:You can turn your PC off whenever you want, Cumulus will catch up when you start it up again. But you can't allow the PC to suspend itself while Cumulus is running - you will get gaps in your data and other issues like the one you have seen. It won't/can't now automatically fix the problem from last night. If you want to do that, you will need to:
1. Stop Cumulus
2. Find the backup folder that it created when it started up yesterday - 31/12/2014 13:28:58.312 : Creating backup folder C:\Cumulus\backup\20141231132858\
3. Copy all of the files from that folder into your data folder, overwriting the existing files.
4. Remove jan15log.txt from the data folder to avoid duplicate entries in that file (as you are 'rewinding' to a previous month)
5. Start Cumulus again
You also seem to be having USB connection problems. You need to make sure you are not unplugging the console while Cumulus is running.
The Recent Extremes panel will always show correct data as long as you do not allow the PC to suspend while Cumulus is running. If Cumulus was closed down overnight, it will update the Recent Extremes panel when you start it up again the next morning.amaclac wrote:However, if I turn off before midnight, I will not see correct data under "Recent Extremes" but this will correct itself the next midnight rollover when the laptop is turned on. Unfortunately I am usually asleep by midnight so that Recent Extreme panel will mostly show incorrect data.
Yes - standby/hibernate/sleep - anything which causes the PC to stop running without closing programs down. Finally, when you say don't allow the laptop to suspend, do you mean hibernate or sleep?
Many thanks Steve - I think I understand Cumulus a bit better now!steve wrote:The Recent Extremes panel will always show correct data as long as you do not allow the PC to suspend while Cumulus is running.
