Change Davis Temp Sensor from Main to Extra?

Post by Smithee »

Hi all,

I know that the main temp sensor can be changed with ease for other weather stations (wmr100tempchannel=2) - just wondering if the same can be done for the VP2? I have an extra sensor on channel 2 but cant quite work out how to use it as the main temp.

Hope its ok to ask,

Andy

It's not possible currently, but it's something I could look at adding in future to the 'new' version of Cumulus. Cumulus doesn't actually know what channel an extra sensor is on, it just gets a list of up to 7 extra temperature readings; but I assume the order of the list doesn't change, so the position in the list could be used rather than the channel number.

Thanks for letting me know Steve - much appreciated.

An addition to the 'new' version would be great if thats possible in the future :)

A quick follow up question (hope thats ok) - I am looking to change the temp line at:

http://www.casa.ucl.ac.uk/cumulus/hourgraph.htm

To the extra temp sensor - is there a way to get the extra temp sensor into realtime.txt so i can easily swap it?

Thanks as ever,

Andy

No, but you can construct your own version of realtime.txt using web tags (changing the web tags used to suit your purpose), and get Cumulus to upload that using the 'files' tab of the internet settings. See http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Realtime.txt

You could either stop the upload of the 'real' realtime.txt file, and give your version the same name, or modify the script to look for your version with a different name.

Just wondering if this feature is still a possibility for the new Cumulus version? I wish to do the same. I am manually modifying some the cumulus files at present to "swap" the main ISS temp/humidity with the extra temp/humidity, but it's not an ideal solution.

Thanks!

It's still a possibility, yes.
