I am getting spurious reported wind speeds in Cumulus that are not showing in EasyWeather.
Yesterday's maximum gust was given as 87 knots. I think I would have noticed if that had happened!
I would emphasise that at no time do I run the two programs simultaneously. I only run EasyWeather after I have shut down Cumulus.
Has anyone else seen this and, more importantly, have they found a fix, please?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Spurious wind speeds in Cumulus from Fine Offset instrum
Yes, lots of people have seen this, there are lots of threads about 'spikes' in the Fine Offset section of the forum, and it is mentioned in the FAQ. This is a problem with the station, not with Cumulus, notwithstanding what you have observed with Easyweather so far. The spikes occur with other software, not just with Cumulus.
There are 'spike removal' settings in Cumulus on the calibration settings screen which you can use to filter out most, if not all, of the false readings that the station supplies.

Note also that as mentioned in the FAQ, you need to make sure you have chosen the correct station type in Cumulus according to whether or not your station has solar sensors.

Thanks Steve.
Hopefully it's not too late to ask Santa for a new weather station
