Hi all,
I've just bought a Davis VP2 to replace an Oregon WMR200 and am hoping to get it installed this weekend.
I have paired the console to the Weatherlink software using the serial connection rather than USB, so fingers crossed Cumulus should be ok.
Before I start to connect the station to Cumulus, what do I do about YTD Rain on the console?
Do I input the YTD rainfall into the VP2, will this double what Cumulus shows or does Cumulus read the YTD figure from the connected console? Or can I not bother with this and Cumulus will carry on recording YTD rain?
Thanks
Darren

If you're using the same data that you used with the old station, e.g. the same installation with the station type changed, then Cumulus will just carry on from where it was before. You might find that 'today's rainfall' goes a bit awry (and hence values derived from that) because the rain counter will suddenly change, but Cumulus copes with most unexpected changes in the rain counter. The rain in last hour and last 24 hours will likely go wrong, but there's nothing that can be done about that and they will eventually correct themselves.

That message is kind of neat the first time you see it on the console. And it got me thinking, does Cumulus upload and display that as the Davis forecast on the standard Cumulus web page if the Davis forecast is selected. I will have to remember to look next time it appears - but may be quite a while as seems it is white stuff that will be coming down instead.
Enjoy,
Paul

No, those amusing messages are separate from the forecasts, and aren't available via the logger connection. "Hold on to your hat" is the the one I get most often...
