Indoor Temperature on Weather Underground

Post by kevini »

The Weather Underground WeatherStation app on the iPad now lets you display your indoor PWS temperature and Humidity. The problem is in my case they are incorrect, the temperature is always -18C and the humidity is the outdoor humidity.

Does Cumulus upload the indoor values?
If not can it be enhanced to upload them?

They are the following in the API:

Code: Select all

indoortempf - [F indoor temperature F]
indoorhumidity - [% indoor humidity 0-100]

It doesn't send it; it presumably wasn't in the protocol when I implemented the code originally. It would be possible to add it in the future, yes, in the new version of Cumulus that I'm working on - or possibly even in this version if I find a few minutes, as it's not a huge change. It would have to be an option, though; some people are touchy about their indoor data being made public.

Thanks!, it does seem to be one of the more recent additions to the protocol. The wind averages seem to be there too now.

Making it an option is the way to go for sure.

BTW you can't see it unless you are signed in as yourself to WU. The App only shows it when you sign in but I agree not everyone wants to share it!

Perhaps I screwed up the packaging of the release. It should be with the other WU settings on the internet settings screen:

If it's not there I'll need to do another release.

Hi Steve,

Sorry, I meant the announcement. I was expecting it to be at the top but I scrolled down a bit and found it.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

For some reason the forum software doesn't move announcement threads to the top when they have a new post, as it does with ordinary threads. It's a bit annoying.

Hi kevini,
I've upgraded Cumulus (Thanks for the very quick update Steve) to 1099 and signed into the Weatherstation app but can't see the indoor temp. Does it take awhile for it to show in the app?

Cheers Bob

Bob,

Are you pressing a blank square with a + in it? That gives you the option of adding another reading and the option to choose Indoor temp is there.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

I started uploading the indoor values to my Weather Underground page for my station last week. I noticed that the humidity value was low by about 10%. However, sometime over the weekend the value on the Wonderstation app started to report correctly. I am not sure what fixed it but it has been correct ever since. The values on my web page generated by Cumulus were never off.

I figured out the issue with the WU indoor readings widget. You can change the units on the vertical scale by tapping on the variable below the graph. For the indoor readings you can toggle it between degrees and %RH. The readings are correct for both in my case.
