Cumulus reading Fine Offset Dataloger after console reset

Hi all,

I have a Fine Offset station and last week I had trouble with it. After doing a "Frankenstein" with parts from a previous Fine Offset I had, I put it back to work. After doing tests to make sure all is working fine, and mounting the weather station in its normal place; I did a console reset (again) and plugged to computer and turned on cumulus.

The strange thing is that cumulus program started reading the data from the data logger in the Fine Offset console. Do anyone have an idea why that happened?

Thanks in advance.

It always tries to read the archive data from the logger memory when it starts up, to catch up from when it was last stopped (unless you tell it not to). If the reset leaves the old data intact, it will read and use that as if it was the data that it needed, it has no way of knowing that it isn't actually the most recent data.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply.

Hope that you do not think I am saying that Cumulus is working wrong, actually I understand clearly that cumulus is working as it is designed to. My question goes more in the area of why the console left that data available (from the data logger), even after a reset. I always thought that resetting the console would erase the previously recorded data in the data logger. :)

Thanks

Ah, I see. I think that some of the Fine Offset models do retain their logger data after a reset; it may be because they use a different type of memory.
