Looking for a new web host

The site I currently am running my web site from has just been having too many issues lately. He keeps going down which means my site (which also includes neighborhood association sub-domain) is offline for hours. This is happening more and more frequently as of late. So I am interested in a new web host for my website. Currently I am get unlimited access and space for $100 for two years. A good price I must admit, and he has been a great host for years until the last three or four months. This makes me wonder if there isn't a better place to host my site. Opinions?

Hi Tom,
I'm currently on the last few months of a three year stint with GreenGeeks.com and I plan to renew in February when the term is up. They are currently offering very similar to what you have described for $3.96 per month and that puts you in the ball park with the current price you are paying. They might even give you a little better deal if you sign up for multiple years.

I wonder if Steve ever got his hosting plan off the ground. Steve?
In Australia, most of our ISP's (the ones that deliver broadband to you home) get us free webspace. Maybe yours does too.

Was going to mention that and figured Steve would chime in or maybe he's already been in touch thru PM. Since Tom's site isn't entirely Cumulus/Weather related I thought I'd toss some info into the hat.
Last I remember is that Steve's plans weren't going to include email which may or may not make a difference in this case.
Will stay tuned for further updates!

Details of my hosting here -

It may not be suited to what Tom needs; it's not 'unlimited', and no, there is no email.

Based on the limitations of Steve's hosting, I sure can't meet them. My current disk usage is 901 MB (945,203,866 bytes) and I have five email accounts (of which 2 or 3 might be able to be done away with).

Been using
https://directnic.com/hosting for the last 8 years or so... no major problems...
5GB Disk Space
100GB Data Transfer
50 POP3 Emails
10 MYSQL Databases
3 FTP Accounts
Up To 3 Hosted Domains
Up To 50 Sub Domains
$48.00 a year
And I certainly am not a web master... they fixed any problem I had with my site... and always replied to emails..
I have three web sites running on there please don't ask me how I did it but got there in the end... its like trying to learn a different language...

I would heartily recommend Vidahost, second to none.

I agree with David's endorsement re: Vidahost. I have been with them for approximately four months. Set up was simple, and my site has performed flawlessly. Cost is comparable to the two previous hosts I used over the past four years and the performance is far superior. My experience has been "set it up and forget about it".

I can't recommend Vidahost highly enough also. Have been with them for over 18 months and had a flawless service from them with excellent support. Have only experienced one brief break in service and was kept fully informed at all times about what was going on.

Did you manage to take a look?
Strange as I had no issues with them last evening at all.
I won't hesitate to move if their service goes down the pan.
