New console and weatherlink

Post by WX_Frank »

Since I earlier reported about my broken barometric sensor, I (hopefully today) will get my new weatherlink logger.
This will be hooked up with a brand new console as well, so my question is:

1: Is there something I need to do regarding data, etc, so I don't screw this up missing anything?

2: With the broken barometric sensor I got wrong time, temp (today/yesterday) reading on my (Saratoga) weather site...will this correct itself?
It's all correct on the Davis console!
(Davis Advantage Vue & Cumulus)

Thanks,
Frank.

Just do what you did with the previous console and logger. Set the console up following the Davis instructions, and make sure you set the logger to serial mode (more details in the FAQ). Set the console logger interval to the same as the Cumulus logger interval.

Hi...seems to work, but the only thing I see missing, is the total amount rain this year.
Should be around 150mm, but was starting on 83.6mm (had som rain today) so shows 91.6mm now.
How to catch up to make this right???

Thank's.

The annual total is calculated from the daily totals in dayfile.txt, see the FAQ: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#Where_ ... ls_from.3F

As you weren't getting end of day rollovers when your station was broken, it is likely that you have entries in dayfile.txt missing or incorrect (assuming you are not getting any error messages saying there is a problem with dayfile.txt). You can either edit one or more entries, or add the difference as a year to date value on the station settings screen, if you're not already using that for a different year.

A bit unsure how to get back the correct rain (yearly) total, Steve.

In the "dayfile"...(last line from yesterday) I think the number 84 is the (wrong) total...can I just correct this one? (see line below)
03/11/14,22.5,269,23:47,15.6,03:24,20.0,22:48,0.00,20:24,1008.50,20:24,0.0,20:24,0.0,19.4,24.0,12.9,23:47,0,20:24,84,20:24,0.00,0.0,20.0,22:48,21.2,20:25,0.0,20:24,0.0,20:24,0.0,20:24,17.7,20:24,13.7,00:00,261,0.0,0.2,0,20:24,0.0,20:24

No, the annual total isn't held as a single figure in dayfile.txt, nor is it in year.ini. It is calculated from the daily totals in dayfile.txt. The field you have highlighted is nothing to do with rain, it's the highest humidity for the day.

See http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Dayfile.txt and/or use the dayfile.txt editor in Cumulus, which will show you what each field means and allow you to edit the file.
