Direction Calibration Question

Hello,

I have a question. I know there is a "Wind Direction" calibration inside of the calibration area. (first of, I am running the current version of Cumulus Software) is it worth using this, instead of trying to climb a tower to fix it on your own? Also, if one can do it into the calibration area. how do you do it?

for example, mine is off (right now it is pointing NNE instead of N) how would someone correct that value? a - (negative value) or a + (positive value) inside the wind direction calibration area? also what numerical value would correct this, at least till I can get someone to climb that beast. I am confused on which way to set it, to correct it.

I tend to get a little off when working on the tower. and getting someone to help me correct it is a scheduling nightmare.

Thanks In Advance..
oh, this is not a Davis... ;)

To correct from NNE to N you would use a negative offset of 22 or 23. But as the Fine Offset rounds to one of 16 positions (or only 8 some of the time because of the design) you will likely find that you are not actually 22 or 23 degrees off, so you may need to tweak that value, depending on how accurately you can determine the discrepancy.
