Suggestions for replacement for Maplin N96GY (Fine Offset)

As others have noted, the Maplin N96GY/Fine Offset loses contact with the sensors periodically. The only cure I have found is to remove batteries/reset and set up again. Of course you lose any stored data during this process. One of the Cumulus updates went a long way to reduce this problem but has not eliminated it. Mind you, for around £50 the Maplin is very good value.
However I am think of upgrading my station and would welcome suggestions. I know that some stations run into many hundreds if not thousands of pounds and these are outside my current resources.
Can anyone suggest a suitable upgrade that won't break the bank and is reliable?
