Website Build

I am using the website builder included in Cumulus and have got both it and the realitime gauges working. I have a couple of questions:
1. The realtime gauges do not appear when I load the website on my android powered tablet. I see an error message saying "could not load plugin". Could someone tell me why this is so and if there is a way of getting the realtime gauges to work on android. They work fine on my windows machine.
2, Is there a way to get the webpage containing the gauges to refresh automatically. I like to keep the page on my second monitor so that I can see the weather at a glance but I have to remember to keep refreshing the page to see the latest. The realtime gauges seem to be only wind direction and wind speed.
Thanks. I am new at this so I apologize in advance if this question has been resolved before and would appreciate any help.

The supplied realtime gauges are built with Adobe Flash, so you will need to install a Flash plugin. But can I suggest that you look at Mark's SteelSeries gauges instead? These are much nicer, display many more parameters in near real time, and update automatically. They should work fine on Android with a suitable browser. See this section of the forum -

Hi Steve
Thanks for the quick reply. Actually after I posted this I started looking at the Steelseries and downloaded and configured it as well as I thought, using the wiki. But I am unable to display the gauges properly and am not sure why. The site is at
http://www.laferla.ca/weather. This still displays the default gauges as the default but if I try to display gauges-ss.htm I get an HTTP error. Can you kindly takre a look and advise what may be wrong. Thanks.

The gauges can't find your realtimegauges.txt file, it should be at
http://www.laferla.ca/weather/realtimegauges.txt
Have you configured the file to be uploaded, as in step 4 of the quick start guide in the wiki? If so, you probably haven't configured the remote filename and path correctly. It needs to be whatever you've configured for the ftp directory in Cumulus plus "/realtimegauges.txt"

I will answer my own question because I figured out some of what is the problem. I had a minor spelling error in some of the specifications. So now the steel gauges display but a message across the top says that my weather station is offline. Why is this and how can I fix it, because cumulus is running. Thanks.

Your realtimegauges.txt file is there now, but hasn't updated since 12:18 your time. Have you selected the correct options for the file? Perhaps you could upload screenshots of your Cumulus internet settings? The 'sites/options' tab and the 'files' tab.

I also edited the template files to change gauges.htm to gauges-ss.htm but now I get only tags in the pages. I am confused! I am uploading the files tab and sites/options tab.

I think the remote directory is wrong mosty it should begin with a slash / ergo /www/yourdomaim.com/etc/ or /public_html/etc
most files in your tabs are the standard files you don't need to add them in the fields because you've ticked include standard files
the standard files shouldnt be ftp-ed in realtime index.htm etc ..
just a thought good luck

The remote filenames look OK to me, and it's actually better to use a relative path i.e. not starting with a slash. As Ron says, you probably want to remove the 'standard' files from the 'files' tab. It looks like you are currently uploading unprocessed templates. All you actually need on the files tab is the realtimegauges.txt file, and it looks like that is updating correctly now on your site.

I still cannot get the pages to display correctly. I now have only the realtimegauges.txt in the files tab. When I hit the gauges tab, I displays gauges-ss.htm but all the other tabs display the standard files and I only get html tags in the page instead of values. I did change all the template files I think correctly. I wish I could find out what I am doing wrong.

Since your standard pages are not displaying with data you should start to get these working, then you can start on the gauges-ss..
Your realtime.txt seems to be updating correctly
http://www.laferla.ca/weather/realtime.txtso that is a good sign.
In my
Sites/Options settings for
Directory I have just the folder name
weather (Like you, my Cumulus template files are in
www.komokaweather.com/weather/) Maybe you can try that setting.
In your C:\Cumulus\web\ folder where your indexT.htm and other templates are located do you also have an index.htm file after a Cumulus web update? and if so does that file have the station data rather than the <webtags>?
Enjoy,
Paul

Just noticed you are uploading to WU twice, as IONTARIO261 and then also as iontario261 and both seem to have the same data. Are you running 2 weather programs by chance?

I deleted everything and went back to the standard web pages which are working, I think. Tomorrow I will try the steelgauges again and be more careful! Thanks all for your help.
