I deleted everything and went back to the standard web pages which worked fine, I think. Tomorrow I will try the steelgauges again and be more careful! Thanks all for your help.
I did all this and I installed the default cumulus webpages first and they worked fine. So then I installed the Steelcase and the steelcase gauges work fine as in www.laferla.ca/weather/gauges-ss.htm but I cannot get the default changed to the new gauges. When cumulus builds the website, the template files and the generated htm files are the same in the cumulus\web folder. I used notepad to edit the files so the <> are correct. What else could I be doing wrong?

Looks OK to me, the gauges link on each page links to http://www.laferla.ca/weather/gauges-ss.htm

Edit: well, it was OK until a couple of minutes ago, but now they're all back to the default page again. Did you edit the processed files rather than the templates?

Sorry Steve, not thinking, I decided to go to the default pages again, delete everything and try again. So my site is back to the default pages now and works well. I have to do something else for a while and will get back to this shortly.

I think it is working now. For the record I think I had the following problems:

1. I edited the template files using Kompozer and should have used Notepad.
2. Not thinking, I left cumulus running while I was editing all the files. Maybe I should have shut down cumulus while doing this so that it would not upload files while I was editing.

Steve and others, thank you for all your help. It was frustrating when I could not get this to work and I was thankful for the guiding hand. Now, to go and do something else!!
