Dayfile problem - please help.

Post by WX_Frank »

Been trying to figure this out by myself for some days, but now I need to ask you guys for help :?

Every midnight the high and low temperatures wont update, and the same for the time!
If you check on my site you'll see what I meen.
If I restart the Cumulus now, it's adding duplicate lines in the dayfile.txt

I really hope anyone can tell me what to do to get this back right?
http://www.torrevieja-weather.net

Thank you :)

Edit: the correct values shows in Cumulus software!

Is your barometer still broken? If so, Cumulus won't be logging normally, or doing various other important things - and you will have entries missing (or none at all) in the monthly log file. You need to read this FAQ: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#Cumulu ... eb_uploads

I wouldn't expect it to be updating your web site, and it does appear to be, so if that's not the problem, please zip up the diags folder and attach it. It may be that it's unable to download archive entries from your logger for some reason.

Hi Steve and thank's for the reply.

Yes, the barometer is still not working and can't afford buying a new one atm
I was trying earlier to make some adjustments in dayfile and others, but don't remember witch one/s...my mistake and did NOT take a copy neither :(
I know everything was updating (and logging) fine before I start messing with the files value to get a fixed barometric value, but can't remember all I did (was to frustrated and wont do that again) :p

I'm writing to you now before I got time to read the url you sent me, but I'll read as soon as I get back home and will also attach the diags folder for you.
What do you think?
Be back soon....thank's again Steve :)

Perhaps in editing dayfile.txt you have changed the format and confused Cumulus. Please include it in the diags zipfile.

Hi Steve ..here comes the files (Dayfile & Diags).
When I restart the Cumulus I notice (error) that it's adding a duplicate line of today.
I went in removed the last line (for today), restarted and then (if you se) it's correct.

Next automatic update at midnight nothing happend...it stays like you see it now!

Hope we can sort this out ;)

Best regards,
Frank.

You need to use the setting in the FAQ, because your barometer is broken. Cumulus isn't writing to the log files or today.ini when reading 'live' data. This means that when it starts up again, it restarts from when it last processed logger data, so you get duplicate entries in dayfile.txt.

I think that using the setting in the FAQ will get it going as best it can, you'll just have to try it. It may be that lack of a valid barometer reading is causing other problems; it's a very unusual situation and not one that I've consciously catered for.

In addition, you appear to have ignored the advice to have your Cumulus logger interval and station logger interval set to the same value, so you are hitting other issues when downloading logger data, e.g. as described in the FAQ - http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#Cumulu ... t_start_up

Shit...that's to bad.....but then I just add the "ReportLostSensorContact=0" to the Cumulus.ini or should I use the "NoSensorCheck=1"?

Thank you for helping, Steve :)

This one - the other one is nothing to do with Davis stations anyway. It's rather confusing that the other setting is mentioned in this particular FAQ, so I've removed it.

Sorry, but (just to get it right) where in the Cumulus.ini file do I put this?

Just added NoSensorCheck=1 just below "Station" in the Cumulus.ini, but now it shows the same high & lows on today & yesterday(?)

Any suggestion, Steve...should it be placed in another line maybe?
Is it also possible to add a fixed value for the barometric pressure ?

Edit: I removed it since all temp got wrong.
Any idea, Steve?

No, the [Station] section is the correct place

No.

That's the risk of using this setting. The whole point of the check is to make sure that your station is sending data before Cumulus starts logging it.
Any idea, Steve?
No, sorry. With this version of Cumulus there's nothing else you can do. Maybe in a future version there will be some more settings for this unusual situation.

I don't know much about the Vantage Vue, but I would imagine you would power off the old console, move the logger over and power up the new one, then follow the setup instructions in the manual. Use Weatherlink to make sure it's all working correctly, and set the logger interval.

I thought the same...hopefully order a new one soon - thank's for your support, Steve :)
