Re: Barometric signal loss!
The barometric sensors in the consoles do occasionally stop working.
Depending on the type of sensor / console some can be replaced but they are a small 9mm module that is surface mounted and extremely fiddly to change.
Replacing the console is an option, but of course a newer console may not be compatible with the older data logger you are using to upload data.

It's the Vue #6351 console, but if I get a new replacement console my data logger cable should work(?), but I was hoping there was a fix on thisayde_bury wrote:The barometric sensors in the consoles do occasionally stop working.

Re: Barometric signal loss!
I'm one of the unlucky ones who has a inconsistent performance from the barometer. For no reason at all it will start drifting up or down compared to another VP2 station 4 miles away. It's been doing this for a few months now.ayde_bury wrote:The barometric sensors in the consoles do occasionally stop working.

At some point I will lose patience with it and need a replacement sensor. Rather than lose readings for several days if I ship the console to you I was considering driving down from Cheshire and waiting whilst you repair it. Would that be acceptable to you?
But not before I've vented my spleen at Davis for a sub-standard product. The barometer really should last longer than 5.5 years on something costing as much as a VP2 console does.

Re: Barometric signal loss!
No one here knows how to put in a fixed barometric value in Saratoga?

You may be better to post on the Saratoga Templates board.WX_Frank wrote:Ken...are you around to solve this??
I think Ken monitors/visits the Saratoga Templates board regularly but not sure if or how often he visits the other boards.

Re: Barometric signal loss!
As the file C:\Cumulus\web\CUTagsT.txt (or whatever it is called in your system) is the one that includes the Cumulus tags that get used throughout the Saratoga template system, then you might make a temporary version of the file and replace all the pressure related tags with the temporary static value.
You could then swap back the original file once the baro sensor is fixed.
To deal with the realtime data you could replace the variable in ajax-dashboard in the barometer section of the code - presumably the variable $t1 - with the temporary static value.
However there is a lot of code in other places (e.g. ajaxCUwx.js) which feed into ajax-dashboard and other pages.
Somehow I don't think you will be able to get a consistent output with these sort of tweaks.

Have you or anyone tried to replace the barometric sensor and is this the right one to order?ayde_bury wrote:The barometric sensors in the consoles do occasionally stop working.

Re: Barometric signal loss!
That's a board for connecting to an Arduino, you would just need the sensor chip, assuming it's possible to replace it in the first place on your Vue. On that Arduino board, it's the square silver component. I don't know what type of chip you would need for a Vue, but someone else might.

Re: Barometric signal loss!
Hi,
I don't know if it's the same sensor/console, but the photo in this repair doesn't look like the same sensor.
There are numerous different barometric sensors, so unless you can get a definitive confirmation of the exact Part Number used by Davis, then a "cheapie" from China is unlkely to be satisfactory (even assuming you can manage the Surface Mounted Component rework).
Cheers, Alan.

Thank's Alan...but one hell of a price (could almost buy a new console)!AllyCat wrote:Hi,

I also found this one and seems like the correct one if you also check: http://www.meas-spec.com/product/t_product.aspx?id=5029

What you think guys?

Re: Barometric signal loss!
Don't forget that you have a Vue and that part is for a VP2. But ayde_bury (Weather Spares) will be the best one to advise whether it's suitable.

Re: Barometric signal loss!
Hi,
But I'm afraid that you may struggle to find anyone (else) on this forum who has a Davis station with a faulty barometric sensor and the knowledge, inclination and ability to replace a 1 mm pitch SMD component on an expensive motherboard. Personally, I have none of those attributes.
Cheers, Alan.
That certainly looks more like the sensor in the Weatherlink photo than the Arduino one. It uses a "SPI" (3-wire) data bus, compared with the "I2C" (2-wire) bus for the Arduino sensor. However, it is specified up to 14 bar (200 psi) which seems rather strange for a weather station component.WX_Frank wrote: I also found this one and seems like the correct one if you also check: http://www.meas-spec.com/product/t_product.aspx?id=5029

Re: Barometric signal loss!
hmm...not sure what to do with the old console, but I have order a new logger.
So I'm the first here with a broken barometric sensor..was hoping a replacement had been done before here on the forum.
But I can use two (#6351) consoles to receive data from my ISS and when I get my new logger (6510USB)...something I need to do or just plug & play?
Thinking if I gonna lose some data
Thank's all for trying to help
