Hi Folks,

New member here, I bought an Aercus WS3083 FO station about 6 weeks ago after much deliberation ( and it fitted my budget ! ) and decided to try and get it right first time when installing the outside sensors and setting the unit up.

Firstly I made up a support going from just underneath the solar unit to the main pole as I thought the weight of the unit fixed only at the bottom, in a strong or gusty wind, over time might lead to a mount failure.

That done I then decided that leaving the sensor RJ plugs as they are would mean corrosion and failure in no time. I purchased a tube of clear silicon grease from Maplins and smeared a good 'dollop' of the grease over the plugs once they were in place - only time will tell if this works !

The final thing was to tidy up the wiring with small ties and make sure there were drip loops in all the sensor cables.

6 weeks down the line everything seems to be working ok, although I did have to replace the cheap base unit batteries with some Lithium ones ;)

I really like the Cumulus software, ( nice one Steve and hope my donation is ok ) and have only had one small glitch when on the same day I had a '0' reading on the minimum temperature and the same on the lowest pressure reading??
I corrected the readings in the files and it hasn't happened since ( I think other people have experienced this as well )

My next challenge is to see if I can get the data to upload to either WU or my website, this may prove difficult or too expensive as I don't want to leave my laptop on 24/7. I'm currently reading up on the Raspberry Pi B+ with possibly the weewx software, but it all looks a tad complicated, although I have played around with Dos & BBC Basic in years gone by !

I look forward to reading and hopefully contributing to the forum.

The usual cause for this is either allowing your PC to go into standby while Cumulus is running, or closing Cumulus down very close to midnight (the latter is a restriction due to the way the processing of logger data works).

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply, I think it might be the latter, it was about quarter past midnight when I closed cumulus down, the error occurred the following evening when I downloaded the next day's readings. The error readings were both timed at 00:19am, I tend to do the downloads around 11pm now.
