Spiders on my Vantage Vue

Hi
we have had a few days of really calm winds here in sunny Somerset (the UK one).
I notices that in very light breezes my weather vane was turning but not my wind cups.
The Vue is mounted on a pole so it's not simple to get to. I took it down and found a couple of spiders living in the cups and a small number of webs acting as breaks for the cups.
After cleaning all seems well (now reading down to 1 MPH)
Now my question (finally

)
Dose anyone have a suggestion for stopping spiders climbing my weather station pole?
John

I have not had any spider problems with my VP2 so can not give you any personal experience but there have been quite a few discussions on this, for example

A forum search on "spiders" will give you some of those previous discussions.

i did have this problem last year.
I cleaned the wind vane and sprayed a "insect dam" on the vane and on the pole.
No more problem since (

) but probably it should be done regularly.

Thanks for your replies.
PaulMy, I did do a search of the Forum first, none of the "Spider" stories seem to deal with prevention rather than cure.
laulau, now that's what I am looking for.
Can you please define 'Insect Dam'. Are you suggesting a ring of insect repellant or maybe insect killer., or is there some sort of sticky product that could act as a barrier.

I use a insect repellent spray that also kill them if they are in contact with it.
It should be efficient for three month.
Yes it should act as a barrier, i sprayed it on some portion of the pole.

Brilliant, just what I wanted.
Thank you.
