Help to explain erroneous data trend

Post by crash486 »

Hi. I've previously cleaned data as I get the usual spikes from my WH3081. This time its more unusual with what appears to be real data but upon closer inspection could not be true.

I have a data trend for increasing temperature (when there was none) for both inside and outside. The solar sensor also shows an increase in insolation from 3:30am when sunrise was not for several hours.
All this resets to normal shortly after 8:30 am. Below is a link to the image from the graphs output from Cumulus showing the pattern. I'd be very grateful for some help in resolving this anomaly.

Was Cumulus running when this happened, or is it data from the logger?

I started Cumulus around 7am so it was up for some of the time.

If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll take a look.

It looks like the graph you've shown is from Friday 12th, and you actually started Cumulus up at 0836 that day - which explains why the graph returns to normal at that point. My guess would be that the logger locations which should have held the data from about 0330 onwards actually held data for a different period - during the daytime at some point in the past. It looks like Cumulus was reading the correct memory locations (it just works backwards from the latest entry and subtracts the entry size each time) so I think the console was not logging correctly. I notice that when you started Cumulus up at 1113 on the 14th, it was getting temperatures from the logger which look too high, until at about 0230 they suddenly returned to normal for the rest of the download.

You could try resetting the console, or perhaps just monitor the logger downloads to see if it starts behaving from now on.

Hi,

Yes, I've seen a similar effect when the batteries in my Console became too low. It seems the Console may stop logging but not necessarily reset or lose the previous data.

Might your batteries be low? Note that the Console doesn't apper to have a Low Battery warning and will behave normally when plugged into the (powered) PC. After downloading, try unplugging the the USB cable and see if the LCD contrast changes. You might also find that the backlight has almost no brightness.

Cheers, Alan.

Thanks , I greatly appreciate the information. The console is running of a plug pack with batteries as backup if the power goes out. I'll take your suggestion and keep an eye on it or maybe give it a full reset.

Thanks again.
