So this morning I have a rain record reading of 481mm in one hit and yet the station shows no reading and its not sent it to WU or tweeted it.
So why would it just be in hi/low record?
I'm running a WH1081 unfortunately

It's easier to answer questions like this if you tell me
exactly which figures are affected. If you zip up the diags folder and attach it I'll take a look. But the real answer of course, is this:
I'm running a WH1081 unfortunately
When the rain counter from the station does crazy things, Cumulus has to try to do its best to make sense of it. It can't just ignore it. The console may not have even seen the crazy reading, and calculates its data in a completely different way to Cumulus, because it can.

I've got over a metre of rain showing in all my records and I can't figure out how to set everything back to a certain point in time.

Assuming it occurred recently: stop Cumulus and find the backup folder from before the incident (a backup is taken each time Cumulus starts, and at midnight). Copy all of the files from that folder into the data folder. Start Cumulus again, and it will catch up using the station's logger data.
However, it is likely that you will end up in the same situation, as the error most likely came from logger data in the first place. If it had come from 'live' data, Cumulus would have done a better job of coping with it. If that's the case, instead of copying all of the files from the backup folder, just copy the .ini files holding the affected records - alltime.ini etc. Don't copy today.ini. If today's total is affected, Change it using the 'today's rain' editor in Cumulus.

Could you zip up the diags folder and attach it, please? It may help me devise some code to ignore the situation.

It looks like you're having problems with the connection between the PC and the console, either a USB problem or the console itself. It looks like you reset the station, or it reset itself, and this caused invalid data to be read. It's all a bit of a mess, and it would be very hard for Cumulus to cope with everything that's going on. The problem seems to be ongoing.

You are correct, it just keeps telling me that it's lost contact with the station, even though the station seems to be fine. It brings in the current conditions OK and then reports the error.

A few things to try: make sure you don't have any USB power saving options set; make sure the USB cable is firmly connected; try a different USB port; try a different USB cable.

I shut Cumulus down for a while last night and this morning it is running happily with no errors.
