VP2 - Outside Humidity Reading Oddity

Looking back over my records, it appears somethings awry with the outside humidity readings. Since early May they have never gone above 80 %, but checking against other local VP2’s my humidity readings track well below 80%. Additionally, when it rains the readings can drop 10% or so! Looks like I will have to take my VP2 apart to check, but looks like the sensor has failed in under 2 years.

The humidity doesn't necessarily rise when it rains, depending of course on how heavy it is, air temp etc.
Have you had any fogs? It should go over 95% in those conditions.

The RH sensors can take quite some time to readjust to change. However if you are maxing out at 80% that would suggest a failure !

It is worth taking the board out and removing the cover and then giving the sensor a good wash with distilled water, squirting it into the sensor 'hole'. These sensors are prone to contamination affecting the reading. I had one where the max humidity drifted lower and lower over a couple of months, washing it revived it back to normal. The sensor does require a period (the manufacturer recommends 24 hours iirc) after washing to 're-stabilise'.
