N96FY - Outside temp and related data fault

Post by rscole »

Hello All,

I wee while back I messed around with my 'calibration' settings and set them to 0.1 for changes in temperature, I got distracted and did not look at Cumulus for a while after that.

Now, I have noticed my error, and as such I have 11.3 and 11.4 degrees centigrade as the ONLY outdoor temperature, windchill, heat index. I also broke the apparent temperature.
I have tried changing calibration back to 999.0 (default), and can do a manual web upload that means I can see the correct current data.
However, Cumulus then decides it will show 11.3 again on the next upload.

Please see the attachment for an example of the data. The data in Outside temp, that is not 11.3 or 11.4, is when I have done a manual upload.
The Cumulus app is showing the correct information.

I am running on WHS2011, Cumuls 1.9.4 1085.

Manual web uploads don't affect the logging of data to the data logs. The toggling of the data like that looks a bit like you have two copies of Cumulus running. Or perhaps you are starting and stopping Cumulus frequently?

If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, I'll take a look.

Hopefully this reply is not a double up, first one did not appear...

I understand that forcing a web update could not change the data being logged. Yes I was running a 2nd instance of Cumulus, however I have done this in the past without problem. Also, changes made in one I do remember being carried over to the other. It appears that this may have not been the case, or my memory is terrible (my guess the latter).

Since I created this thread, I have stopped my Cumulus service and started it again. Looking back at the hourly stats it does appear to be more inline with what I am expecting.

It looks like you had one copy of Cumulus running with the corrected 'spike removal' settings, and one with the old settings. The copy from the diags that you attached logged that 11.3 temperature at 19:45 on the 10th August as it still had the old settings; the actual temperature at that time was 9.8, so that other log entry at the same time must have come from a second copy of Cumulus with the corrected settings.

Running two copies of Cumulus at the same time on the same PC, with the same Fine Offset weather station, will cause problems, just as running Cumulus and any other software at the same time would. Not just this kind of problem, but issues with lost data that you may not even realise are happening.
