Build 1089 of version 1.9.4 is now available from the downloads page.

This version contains the following fixes:

Change extraction of wind direction for Fine Offset to only use lower 4 bits.
Make sure all-time wettest month record always has correct month applied
Allow year selection back to 2000 for 'This month', 'This year', and NOAA reports
Delay writing of end of day backup files until the first log entry is written

I have thought of another question about Cumulus when browsing announcements to see how many 'patch' builds had happened in 1.9.4.
Can you document for me what problem was fixed when the change I have coloured in red was made?

It just surprises me when a new month (or new year) starts that you choose to back up the first entry in each log of the new month (and sometimes year).
Before that build you were backing up in each log the last entry of the day, therefore it would also be last of each month (and sometimes year).
Maybe, as someone who rarely uses Cumulus, I am missing something extremely obvious to everyone else, but I would have thought extremes in each log for completed days are more useful than those based on the first log of a new day?

The purpose of the backup files is to allow Cumulus to be 'rewound' to a particular point in time. It simulates the situation where someone had closed Cumulus down at that point, and was only now starting it up again, and needing data to be downloaded from the station's logger to catch up to the present time.

The 'daily' backups are provided for those who don't restart Cumulus very often, and might otherwise have to use a very old backup set should they want to rewind.

As is well documented, closing Cumulus down close to midnight causes problems on restart. This change avoids Cumulus creating a backup set which simulates that situation.
