A question fo Australian Members

Post by geoffp »

I am trying to purchase a new Solar/UV sensor for my WH3080-Solar, impossible to get in the UK but I have found some for sale in Aus.
My problem is that I have a Nevada Station just another Fine Offset Clone but the Nevada operates on the 868 MHz frequency, I don't want to purchase a part from Aus if it is not compatible. :bash:

Many Thanks
Regards,

Geoff

I'm pretty sure our stuff works in the 433mhz class band.
Interested in building your own Weather Station? Maybe check out the WeatherDuino Pro Project Here

Thanks Uncle_Bob, I was fearing this, I purchased this weather station from Nevada Radio in Portsmouth UK, hence the weather station name "Nevada".
I have contacted them and their attitude is no we don't stock them, buy a new station if you need it all to work.
Maybe any future customers of Nevada should weigh up the after sales service.
So if any member out there has a solar/uv sensor for a WH3080-Solar working on the 868MHz and they have no use for it please give me a shout.
Regards,

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

AFAIK, the Solar Pod operates "independently" of the radio transmitter frequency. The Pod does create its own "modulation" data (at a period of 60 seconds), but that is passed over the "Data" wire to the "External Transmitter" module via the 6-pole (5 wires actually used) RJ12 connector into the "rain" socket.

I believe the exact connections are shown in one of the posts of the "photos of ...." sticky threads in the FO section. The photos appear to show the PCB is laid-out for some wireless transmitter components (and batteries, etc.), but it is not "populated" (probably because using a single transmitter for both data packet transmissions is much cheaper).

Therefore, my belief is that an Australian-sourced Pod (or "434 MHz" from UK, etc.) will work with any/most FO Solar Data stations. But I don't have any firm information, for example on the latest models such as the WH3083.

ADDED: However, do bear in mind that the "early" Solar Pods had a number of fundamental design or manufacturing "issues". Certainly, a year or two ago there appeared to be a large number of WH-3081 stations (they don't have the Radio Controlled Clock of the 3080) being sold at suspiciously low prices in Australia.

Cheers, Alan.

Hi Alan
Many thanks for your information, The solar is charging the batteries no problem, the lux is being read no problem, at the moment it is reading 24.3 Klux.
It is only the UV not working it is either at 0 or at1
Just have to put up with it I suppose

Geoff
