Editing Monthly/Yearly Rain totals

Post by BenfleetWeather »

Hi guys,

Just signed up, bought a WeatherLink USB and have a website running and in the process of sorting out the front page.

Inserted the data logger into the console a few days ago, and obviously the rain totals can't pick up on previous records

Is there any way that I can manually input my Monthly/Yearly totals, whilst still letting Cumulus update the values when it needs to (rains more)?

Thanks :) Jason

You can put a 'year to date' figure on the station settings screen. If you want to add any other 'pre-Cumulus' rain totals, you will need to fake some daily entries in dayfile.txt.

OK thanks I think I get what you're saying

Either edit my dailylog to input fake daily totals, bringing them up to my yearly total, while still letting Cumulus totals on top with new days, although this will skew my max daily totals

Or, add another value stating my yearly rain to date, is that right?

See the Cumulus help for the Configuration menu Station Settings screen - that explains it is amount to when Cumulus first starts running.
(there is also a rain season month box to specify when your rain year begins, that is also explained in the help).

Yearly rainfall to date (for the first year you start using Cumulus) is not an issue; as I said, Cumulus caters for that. You don't need to edit any files.

Thanks, both of you.

I've entered my Year to Date value now, not bothered with the monthly total, as it's only 2.8mm, and I don't really want to fake any data when I don't know the specifics :)

Everything else seems to be going well so far. I've nearly finished the homepage customisation, not touched the other pages yet, want to have everything moved over to a new template before I do that.

One other quick question, Cumulus doesn't always come up with the moonset time, sometimes it's displayed as ----, and then that value is then uploaded to the website, is this a known glitch?

Thanks again!

The moon didn't set (in the UK) yesterday (for example). See the FAQ - http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#The_Mo ... ng_dashes.
