Repelling ants from a Vantage Vue

Post by martinu »

I'm having a big problem with *flying* ants getting into the temperature/humidity sensor on my Vantage Vue and giving stupidly low (1%) humidity readings.

I cleared loads from inside the gauze screen that surrounds the sensor, and after a few hours they were back again. I wonder whether they may be inside the main body of the ISS and are entering the gauze from the inside.

At the moment I've got the ISS lying on its side on the ground with an ant killer block beside it so maybe some will eat the poison and take it back to the rest.

Are temperature and humidity sensors affected by any chemicals - eg those in ant killers? Is there anything I should definitely keep away from the sensor?
