Data Folder Location

Hi,
Can the location of the data folder be changed?
I try to keep anything that needs to be backed up, including all my email data, in My Documents. That way, I know that if I just backup My Documents, then everything important is saved off my PC.
In the event that the location of the folder cannot be changed, would some kind person knock me out a simple batch file to copy the Data Folder to My Documents - I tried to write one but my DOS skills are a bit rusty. I would then put the batch file in Scheduled Tasks.
Cheers,
Tim

No, I'm afraid not, it didn't occur to me at the time that people might want to put it somewhere else - which is perfectly reasonable thing to want to do, I admit.
I'm not a batch file expert, so I'll leave that bit to someone else!

Firstly, create a subfolder in your MyDocuments -- I will assume 'CumulusBackupData' here
I will assume Cumulus is installed in c:\program files\Cumulus
Open Notepad -- Start, Run, Notepad
type the following command
Code: Select all
xcopy "c:\program files\cumulus\data" "%homepath%\CumulusBackupData\" /s/e/y/q
Click File, Save and give the file a name with .BAT at the end and save it somewhere. You can then run this as a scheduled task as normal. It will copy everything in the Cumulus\Data folder to the folder CumulusBackupData in your MyDocuments
If you want to see what it is coping drop the /q at the end of the command
Hope this helps -- any questions, let me know

David,
That's great - just what I wanted.
I had to add "My Documents" to the destination path, otherwise it created a new folder elsewhere.
I'm now having a problem setting up the Scheduled Task (Win XP). The error message is Access is Denied, You do not have permission to perform the requested operation. Seems to be a known problem - Google comes up with several solutions which I will try this evening.
Thanks again,
Tim

Oops -- should have mentioned that -- some PCs take it straight to MyDocuments, others to the parent folder. It depends on how it is setup.
