Thinking of getting a cheap second hand netbook with a 1.6GHz processor with 2Gb ram to run cumulus, capture jpgs from IP camera(jpg capture not stream capture) and hourly/daily jpg to mp4 creation.
Think it'll have enough grunt for this??

Absolutely so, I used a Pentium 4 for such things before

It just may be slower obviously.

Acquired a dell netbook with a 1.6Ghz atom and 1Gb ram with a 150Gb drive.
Should do the job, I hope.
Rewritten my scripts to suit, will no longer be using the NAS drive and camera's own snapshot capture.
Now using wget to capture images plus overlaying weather data and all my mp4 videos stuff.
Will be up and running as soon as I pickup the netbook and have time.
