Meteostick

I just belatedly 'discovered' the Meteostick. This seems like an answer to my problem in that I want my Solar and UV sensors connected to the Wind transmitter, but the Davis VP2 console only supports a single 'ISS'. My reading of the specs looks like it should be possible with this little gadget.

The next problem of course would be a lack of Cumulus support, and the lack of an on-board logger to cover outages.

I was in discussion with Boris about this by PM some time ago, after he contacted me about it; he offered me a free sample so that I could add support to Cumulus, but I said I was too busy just now. I asked him a question about the likely range of the device through walls, but he hasn't been back on the forum to read my last PM for some time.

Yes it looks like the range will be reduced, then page has the comment...
Remark: Caused by the form factor RF reach of Meteostick is not as extended as with DavisĀ® Console or Envoy but can be expected fine up to 100 meters.
which would probably be fine for me.

Hmm, thinks... one of these plugged into a RPi running Cumulus....

Any updates on this topic? Not many soft alternatives for this interesting gadget

My previous post is still the current situation.

Range wouldn't be an issue for most domestic users, who would typically operate at no more than 50-100m. Also, if you're willing to do a little surgery it ought to be feasible to attach a higher gain whip or omni antenna or even a small yagi as is used with eg the Davis long-range repeaters, eg something like Sirio SY906 or even SY910 if you wanted more gain, albeit at some extra cost then.

I'm running Meteostick crossing 2 walls and at a distance of 40 mts.
No problems
Hope Cumulus can run it soon.
