Fine Offset AWS Gateway WH2600

Post by Lytse Himmel »

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and had/have loads of problems choosing correct settings, correct location of my AWS, which software to use, etc. Trying out multiple types of software somehow caused a serious corruption of my Easy Weather .dat file so I contacted Fine Offset in China.

They told me that they have just recently produced a Gateway! See this link http://bit.ly/1lneuWl
The gateway can upload data to Wunderground.

They're also going to work on the problems with migrating databases from EW v6 to v7, as the database format is different. The person I'm mailing with asked me several questions which I think should be answered by peole on this forum, as I am still a newby and obviously know sh*t from Shinola as far as the problems people commonly run into with their FO AWS and EW software. Maybe if people can put up requests and/or remarks regarding this new gateway, FO can fine tune the design so it further meets requirements. And no, I don't work for the company ;)

Hi Ron,

Yes, I know my Alecto is a WH1080 (see left of my post) but thanks for pointing that out.

The questions asked by FO were basically not about the software but about the new gateway, like whether it would need support for uploading to other sites than Wunderground. But I obviously was wrong in thinking people here would be interested. Sorry about that, I'll stick to Cumulus questions.

Doesn't matter, it took me 'till this 2nd reply to realize you're in Apeldoorn!! Fellow Cheese Head so to speak

No, there isn't a manual as it hasn't been introduced to Europe yet. However, the person I'm mailing with supplied a link to his own site showing the gateway's output: http://bit.ly/1lgcBWO

And I just received an email regarding an even more interesting bit of hardware:
2. WH6000 -- this one will be available soon. It can connected to our sensor array wireless or wired, this one can have data stored on its SD card. It will send out data via GSM module by SMS and/or GPRS to Wunderground. It can send you alert message. It doesn’t need AC adapter, it has li-ion batteries with solar charging.
For simpletons like myself, this is pretty interesting, although I was already looking into the Pi for uploading data once I get my AWS in working order
