W8681 Rainfall Memory

Hi
Down in the general section I mentioned my 5000 mm rain. Out of interest I've just looked at Easyweather.dat and it still downloads -now 18000 clicks of the bucket and nearly 6000 mm rain total. I've taken the batteries out of both sender and receiver but still this amount comes back. Has anyone found a way of clearing this memory. I know Cumulus only uses the daily figures and adds its own totals but it is a niggle.
Regards Alan

Hi
Thanks - yes you'd think it would but after several memory clears and battery removals it's still there.

Are you sure it's the station and not Easyweather? Maybe you've zeroed the rain counter in the station, but EW is being helpful and remembering what the total was previously? If you look in the Cumulus aug09log.txt you can see what the station rain counter actually is - it's the figure just after the pressure so it's easy to spot.

Thanks Steve
I made sure Cumulus wasn't looking at easyweather.dat, cleared the base memory and took out all the spurious readings in aug09log.txt then let Cu download for the morning and 'lo and behold' 5665 mm total rain reappeared in aug09. There must be some non volatile memory in the W8681 that can't be cleared. You'd expect some sort of master reset but there doesn't seem to be.
Maybe that explains some of the quirks of easyweather that Cu avoids.
