Help Please

Post by gazandjan »

Huston we have a problem

My Maple weather station as been working fine for 5mths until yesterday.

When i plug into my laptop it updates cumulus, however after the update is complete it closes cumulus and just
shows zero in all the reading.

Its like the live data is not making it into cumulus ?

Anyone any ideas ?

Please zip up the diags folder and attach it to a reply.

Please explain what you mean by "it closes Cumulus".

What display is showing zero, Cumulus or the console?

It's restarting because you have "Restart if data stops" set, and the station stops sending data. On restart it shows zero because it is still unable to read any data from the station. So you have a problem either with the station itself or the USB connection. As it's a laptop, one thing to check is to ensure that you have no power saving set for the USB port.

Steve,

Checked the USB ports everything ok.

Opened up easy weather and that's working fine, so was going try and use easyweather.dat file, but struggling to find the
file location - any ideas ?

All sorted and back to normal - we had issues with syc fine offset reads - we un-ticked this and everything is back to normal. :D

I think that's a coincidence. There was no sign of it doing the synchronisation in the logs at the time you were getting 'data stopped'. I'm not aware of anyone else getting 'data stopped' as a result of using the synchronisation setting, and I don't get it here in my testing.

We did we re-tick the box and it stopped data collection.

Sorry, I don't know what that is. If you mean "Synchronise station clock", that has no effect with Fine Offset stations.

Thanks - I can see a number of places where it was getting invalid data from the station, but nothing that could be attributed to the "Synchronise" setting. Very odd.
