Have a maplin system. Touched the screen this morning to clear the inboard memory and the screen has 'failed'. It is now showing 3841-3871 in the pressure area and 280 in the alarm section for a while then blank. I have taken out batteries and refitted and the screen flashes with all LCD sections then flashes as above. Any ideas?

If it is less than a year old, take it back to get a replacement under Maplin's guarantee.

UK consumer law isn't so cut and dried. You are entitled to expect it to work for a time typical of appliances of that type, and I'd argue that 15 months is too short. Worth pushing them a bit, I'd say. (Ask to speak to the manager.)
I am not a lawyer.

I was hoping somebody would know that it was a fault that just needed rebooting or something

Hi,
If it behaves as you described after removing the USB cable
and removing the batteries
for a few minutes, then yes it's probably developed a fault.
And I agree with Jim. There should be no issue with the "expected" life, because the manufacturer claims that the batteries should work for two years! However, strictly, after six months the onus is on the buyer to "prove" that there is a manufacturing/design fault. But maybe not too tricky with all the evidence of known "issues" reported on this forum (and others).
I think somebody reported here just a few weeks ago that they got a replacement from Maplin after 15+ months.
