lost "select a graph" capability. red error lite blinking

Post by tango5035 »

I can no longer use select a graph. Get a blank screen on any date after May 6th, I do have date collected and can see graphs . Please excuse me as I do not know how to use this bulletin board.

You have an error in May14log.txt in the data folder. Clicking on the error light will tell you which line to look at. If you edit the file with a good text editor (like notepad++) with Cumulus stopped, the problem and how to fix it should be obvious - it will be a blank line or some kind of corruption.

If you zip up the file and attach it to a reply, I'll take a look. If you need instructions for attaching files, they are in the post linked to near the top of the forum- "Please click here before posting...".

Here's what that file actually looks like at that line (using notepad++):
2014-05-16 17_54_19-C__Users_steve_Desktop_May14log.txt - Notepad++.png
You need to edit it (with Cumulus stopped) to remove those 'NUL' characters, so it looks like this:
2014-05-16 17_54_46-_C__Users_steve_Desktop_May14log.txt - Notepad++.png

with "excell" (the only way I know to find a particular line out of thousands) there are no "nulls". Very interesting. So, maybe instructions should add that one can use excell to find the line then use notepad to edit. Thanks.

The best way is to use a good text editor, like Notepad++. That shows the line numbers, and even has a 'go to line number' command. I don't recommend loading live Cumulus log files into Excel, there is the danger of accidentally saving them and changing the date format.

Even good old notepad does have a 'goto line' function ;) But Steve is right, it is much better to use Notepad++
