Yet another wind sensor improvement thread

Post by jim-easterbrook »

I finally got round to implementing some ideas I've had over recent months, replacing my old wind sensors with the new ones I got when I bought my most recent Maplin "black" station. I've fitted longer cables, run the cables inside the mast, used an extension mast to raise the anemometer above the wind vane, attempted to reduce the win vane's spinning tendency and installed a new support mast.
Here are some pictures (more are on Flickr - follow the links).

New screen! Was: Yet another wind sensor improvement thread

Post by jim-easterbrook »

I've built a new screen for the temperature / humidity sensors as well now, made from 9" square louvred vents. I need to make a better (more solid) roof, and could do with adding some spacers to create a larger gap between the inner and outer vents, but it's not looking too bad.
