David Beckham (footballer), Jimmy White (snooker player) and Brian Lara (cricketer) were all born on my birthday - 2 May. Not all in the same year of course.
Nationally, the Royal Festival Hall in London was opened the day after my birth and the Festival of Britain started.
Historically, Anne Boleyn was arrested on 2 May 1536.
In 1952 the de Havilland Comet made its inaugural flight from London to Jo'Burg.
In 1969 the QE2 departs on her maiden voyage to New York.
In 1982 the General Belgrano was sunk off the Falklands.
And in 2011 Osama bin Laden is killed.
