Cumulus and Rasperry Pi together

Hi

Can anyone help me with my project?

What I want to do is run my Davis Vantage Vue on a Raspberry Pi so that I can share my weather on the internet 24/7. That bit is easy (well, maybe not easy, but doable)

Now the hard bit

I want to keep running Cumulus to maintain my weather records, graphs etc. I have a Data Logger (not Davis) attached to the Vue.

I understand that Cumulus does not delete data from the logger, so can I simply disconnect the Vue from the Pi once a day (for say ten minutes) to upload the weather from the Vue?

Thanks in advance

John

I don't see a problem with that. Will our 'pi software read the Vue logger when you reconnect it to pick data missed whilst it is disconnected?

Now that's a thought, I had assumed that the Pi software would just miss a few minutes, it would be great if the Pi software was able to 'catch up' just as Cumulus does.

I have not decided which Pi program to use yet so I will add your thoughts to my options when I am deciding.

Thanks you for your thoughts, very helpful.

I have not tried lftp on the Raspberry but according to Google it should be possible to install

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install lftp
I do use lftp on CentOS for backup of Cumulus once an hour but it should be very possible to run it more often.
I am using FileZilla server on the Cumulus PC.

What I really like with lftp is

Code: Select all

lftp has built-in mirror which can download or update a whole directory tree.
