Re: Cumulus not updating on website
Don't you need a backslash before public_html ? ergo /public_html/ ?
edit I dont understand why your ftp domain is complete else as your webdomain ?

Re: Cumulus not updating on website
I see you are a Vidahost user, so that is why you are using fyvie.footholds.net, have you tried using corfemullenweather.co.uk instead as nitrx says.
Also as he says the Files tab Remote filenames are incorrect they should be /public_html/xxxxxxx.
However, I loaded your source for index.htm and is missing a DocType and <html> header, have you modified it and inadvertently deleted it from the indexT.htm file (see todayT.htm as that is correct).
None of this explains why it is not uploading although I would give the changing of fyvie.footholds.net to corfemullenweather.co.uk a go to see if it makes any difference.

Re: Cumulus not updating on website
Looks like beteljuices assessment is correct to me. Somehow Cumulus is sending the initial CWD to \public_html in uppercase, so the files are getting uploaded to your root folder, also the subsequent CWD to 'images' also fails.
I'd shut down Cumulus, and look in the cumulus.ini file for the "Directory=" entry, is that lower case? If so restart Cumulus and see if it updates correctly? If not edit it so it is, then restart Cumulus.

Re: Cumulus not updating on website
Does the fact the UTF-8 is not ticked in the files section but is ticked for FTP in the config section, have any bearing on this error?

Thanks Mark for your suggestions but the cumulus.ini file entry for the Directory= is correctly entered in lower case, so will try Davids suggestions and see if I get any joy.

[cross - posting]
Interesting ....
Yes, your additional files (AWEKAS, stainless steel, realtime) ARE being uploaded / updated correctly - although your clock is a little in advance.
However; your 'standard' files do not seem to have been loaded, or at least not to the right place !.
Plus your original log correctly showed public_html (lower case)
You said you installed the latest Cumulus ?
Try re-installing and if the problem persists (desperation) try UNchecking UTF-8 on the main files screen.

Dunno, but looking at the existing web pages it should off on the main page.tumutbound wrote:Does the fact the UTF-8 is not ticked in the files section but is ticked for FTP in the config section, have any bearing on this error?

Re: Cumulus not updating on website
Thinking a bit more about it ....
The new Cumulus Templates can be UTF-8 OR ANSI.
You have modified at least the index page so I would guess you did NOT replace the templates with the new Cumulus install.
So .. consensus of opinion - UNcheck UTF-8 (for your 'old' unchanged templates), although why that would result in the apparent capitization of the change directory I have no idea

Re: Cumulus not updating on website
OK so I have worked my way steadily through your suggestions testing each idea one at a time for a positive result but so far no change I'm sorry to say. I have re-installed the latest version of Cumulus, making sure to uncheck the box at the relvant point so that my modified files did not get overwritten (I also unchecked the box the first time I upgraded), I have reset the console clock, unchecked the UTF-8 boxes etc so I am completely mystified and don't know what to try next.
All this has given me a headache
so I am going to have a nice cup of tea and give it a break and come back later
Thanks again for all your helpful suggestions. The answer must be out there somewhere and probalbly be staring me in the face, I hope!
regards
Mike

Re: Cumulus not updating on website
I can see http://www.corfemullenweather.co.uk/images/temp.png has an update date of today. I also see in your ftplog.txt:sunseeker wrote:My problem is that although my data is uploading correctly to my PC and Awekas, Weatherunderground, Met Office etc Cumulus data on my webpage remains stuck to last evening when my system crashed. Other items on the website are updating normally (Met Office, Meteorologica, visitor count etc). Could there be an error in somewhere in my configuration? Any help as to solving this problem appreciated.

so that suggests to me that your directory setting is fine, and that the lower case is being accepted. As you say your steel series gauges page is being updated and uploaded okay (but its links do not have one to take you to monthlyrecord.htm).
What I would like to see attached to your next posting is a copy of your modified template file (cumulus\web\indexT.htm) because my first guess would be that file either does not exist or does not contain any Cumulus web tags (i.e. it is a copy of index.htm as it was a few days ago, not a template file).sunseeker wrote:The answer must be out there somewhere and probalbly be staring me in the face, I hope!
Firefox tells me that your http://www.corfemullenweather.co.uk/index.htm was last modified a matter of minutes ago, and your FTP log tells me that your files are successfully being transfered. I have pasted only one of the reports below (for monthlyrecord.htm).
<pre>
10:40:18:940 FTP Command: STOR monthlyrecord.htm
10:40:18:940 05467F10 TriggerDataSent 588

10:40:19:571 05467F10 TCustomWSocket.Shutdown 1 588
10:40:19:571 FTP Response: 226-File successfully transferred
10:40:19:571 >|226-File successfully transferred|
</pre>
As far as I can see you have hardly modifed most of the templates, so I suggest you once more tick UTF-8 encode on the Sites/Options tab, copy todayT.htm, yesterdayT.htm, thismonthT.htm, thisyearT.htm and recordsT.htm across from cumulus\web\originals to cumulus\web and then report back on your progress when you have seen how Steve's originals look after they have been processed and uploaded onto your site.
Meanwhile read this FAQ http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#I_don. ... mplates.3F on how to edit the standard templates to remove solar, because as far as I can see that is the only change to most templates. If you move to the next but one FAQ you will see a link to customised templates and I have recently updated that to cover HTML5 and utf-8 so that may help you.

Re: Cumulus not updating on website
I think you may be right about the templates not being templates, the graphs are all updating as is realtime.txt, and the HTML file times returned by the web server are current as well, just the content is old.

Re: Cumulus not updating on website
I've just sat on my hands and watched as this thread has evolved thinking I was out of touch with the way ftp and Cumulus worked. And maybe I am.
Like I said in my post above yours, after Mike posted that little blurb from his log, "Looks like you are just loading an existing index.htm". And looking at the longer file he posted, all of the pages are still being loaded from his C:\Cumulus\web and nothing to do with 'tmp' files. I would assume that if Mike deleted all the files in the C:\Cumulus\web directory except for the "T" files, these new files that Cumulus would then create would upload and things would be fine. If this is an exception to the rule of how things are uploaded I get the same results with my updated version of Cumulus.
I'm betting that all the files, index.htm, today.htm, yesterday.htm all got corrupted some how(windows crash) on May 6th, 19:30pm and possible can't be overwritten like they should. Looking at the source for the index.htm, there's no opening <html> tag or <!DocType. The others look ok viewing the source
Now, if that is self-inflicted and he has changed the "T" files we should know when the new files are created and uploaded, if that happens.
My point is that no htmtmp files show up in the log and the htm files in the directory that's being uploaded from are from the date/time of the aforementioned crash of his computer.
In all honesty this afternoon, I pm'd Mike and asked him to open up the index.htm in the 'web' directory with a browser and he confirmed the time stamp is showing the same as his website, but he was probably in bed when I responded to him so I thought I would bring it out here. His index.htm and such are not being correctly written before upload.
And I can take being all wet if I am.
Just trying to understand...
Brad
If that is the case, why doesn't the indexT.htmtmp file show up in the ftp log? And if there is a *hidden* htmtmp from the log, why is there still an upload from the 'web' directory of Cumulus?water01 wrote:The above is incorrect, Cumulus PROCESSES the indexT.htm file to indexT.htmtmp and UPLOADS that file to index.htm file.

Re: Cumulus not updating on website
I noticed that, again I am no expert on browsers, but I guess they make assumptions if parameters are missing and a modern browser will assume any unlabelled file is a HTML5 source, unless it is told otherwise. Brad I would not worry about that.MackerelSky wrote: Looking at the source for the index.htm, there's no opening <html> tag or <!DocType. The others look ok viewing the source

Re: Cumulus not updating on website
As I understand things, the template files get converted to htm files with webtag substitution and the resulting files are them uploaded e.g.
indexT.htm contains the webtags and is processed by Cumulus to produce index.htm, index.htm is the file that is ftp'd to the web server.
Looking at the files in my Cumulus web directory, I only see two tmp files:
realtimegaugesT.txttmp and gauges-ssT.htmtmp.
These are only the working files Cumulus produces and are not ftp'd to the web server.
The two files (in my case) that get transferred to the web server are
realtimegauges.txt and gauges-ss.htm
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding some of the previous posts?
