Does anyone know if there is any problem with Cumulus and Twitter? I had my station offline for two days doing some repairs and also changing web hosts. When I got everything going again it would not upload to twitter. I am using the latest build (1095).
Thanks,
Sperry

Re: Twitter Broken?
There don't seem to be any problems at Twitter at the moment, but Twitter is a pain and can 'sulk' for unexplained reasons.
The first thing to check is that your PC clock is correct.
The next thing to try is to force Cumulus to re-authenticate. Stop Cumulus and edit cumulus.ini. Find the [Twitter] section, and delete the lines which start
OauthToken=
OauthTokenSecret=
Then start Cumulus again. If it still can't update, turn on the debug log and look at the diags file (cumulus.009) to see if Twitter is returning any error codes.
Some people have found that they need to go into their Twitter account and remove permission from Cumulus, and then add it again.
If you post any diagnostics here, be careful not to include the tokens.

Re: Twitter Broken?
The PC clock is correct.
I deleted the OauthToken= and OauthTokenSecret= that did not help. I then deleted all my Twitter info from the internet settings in Cumulus and restarted Cumulus. Then I re-entered all my Twitter info. Still did not work.
After re-entering my Twitter info I noticed that in the Cumulus.ini that the OauthTokenSecret had no key, it showed unknown as below.
OauthToken=unknown
OauthTokenSecret=unknown
But when I checked the diagnostic log it showed a key under the twitter info but also it shows--Could not load SSL library.
Here is the diagnostic info. I placed X's where the keys, password, and username were.

Re: Twitter Broken?
I updated the OpenSSL libraries to the latest versions recently (even though the ones Cumulus was using previously didn't have the Heartbleed bug) so it's possible I broke something. But I've just checked the installer, and it does install the new DLLs, and I'm using the new DLLs myself.sperry russ wrote:5/3/2014 10:15:02.765 : Could not load SSL library.
If you look in the Cumulus installation folder, do you have the two DLLs, libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll, and are they dated 8th April 2014? If not, reinstalling Cumulus should put them back again.

Re: Twitter Broken?
Yes, I have both of those DLLs and they are dated 8th April 2014. I re-installed Cumulus anyway but that did not fix it.

Re: Twitter Broken?
That's odd. I'll do some experimenting tomorrow. Perhaps the problem is with the new DLLs and fetching the tokens.

Re: Twitter Broken?
I just did a quick test with a new install of Cumulus 1.9.4 build 1095 on my Windows 8.1 system, and it successfully fetched the tokens and (on the next update) posted a message to Twitter. So I'm afraid I have no idea why it's not working on your system. What changes did you do to your PC between the point where it was working and when it stopped working? Are you launching Cumulus using the shortcut created by the installer?

Re: Twitter Broken?
Don't worry yourself with it. I think Twitter is more aggravation than it is worth anyhow
One thing I forgot to mention is when I made all these changes I installed Cumulus to a Netbook running Windows XP Pro. I am accessing it with Remote Desktop. I was running it on Windows 8.1 as in my specs but I need to change them. Could be something to do with that.
I will dig a little deeper just to see if I can find out what's up.
Thanks.
