Two Cumulus icons in the tray.

Post by ICP963 »

Since the latest update I seem to be getting two program icons in my tray for Cumulus. Is this normal?

No, but nothing has changed with the code that handles the system tray icon (it's a third-party component) for many years. This is on XP, yes? Are you sure you don't actually have two instances of Cumulus running? How do you start Cumulus, and what settings do you have for 'minimise to tray' and 'start minimised'?

Cumulus is in the startup directory and it opens onto the desktop where it usually resides. I checked the task manager and it only appears once, Minimize to tray and start Minimized are both unchecked.

Hmmm, I uninstalled and then re-installed Cumulius and the second tray icon is not there any longer. Gotta love Windoze sometimes.

Too late now, but were both icons 'really' there? Sometimes an 'old' one gets stuck in systray after a program has terminated, but wen you mouse over it Windows checks the running task for the mouse over info, finds the program is no longer running and removes the 'ghost' icon.

Did both icons bring a copy of Cumulus to the foreground when you clicked them?

I have exactly that scenario with FWI Calc and WIN8. It's not often I look at the weather server so sometimes there are 30+ icons there :o

The second icon didn't seem to want to bring up anything, but if I right clicked on it and closed it both would go away and close the main program window. Odd indeed.

Seems fine now that I updated again after the uninstall.
