I think my weather station has deleloped a problem!!

Post by ace2 »

My maxkon ws-1081 weather station will only power on if the USB plug is connected, unplug it and it switches off???
Very strange.......
Its working fine with uploading and stuff, but unplug that USB and it loses its memory.
Its running rechargeable batteries, so I wonder if that has something to do with that!!

Anyone had this issue?

Suppose I'm kind of worried if I have a power black out and my weather station resets itself and time, will this effect cumulus or the data?

I had rechargeable batteries in my console (WH-1081) and had some issues when the USB was removed. I'm not sure that they were getting recharged via the USB connection.
I've since fitted alkaline batteries and no problems at all.

Probably the same with the transmitter. I have the solar cell for recharging but have recently fitted none rechargeable Lithium batteries. Battery life seems to be over 12 months which I've no complaint with.

Thats a releif, I've purchased some alkaline batteries and will try after work.
My transmitter hasn't got a solar panel and is running rechargeable which weren't fully charged if I remember correctly and it's been almost 12 months, guess I'm lucky with that, but occasionaly a sencor doesn't transmit. Maybe I should change them as well!

I think you will find if you read the instructions that came with the weather station, (it certainly did with mine which is a Fine Offset like yours but a different supplier), it advises against using rechargeable batteries as they do not give the correct voltage. There are also no recharging circuits in the standard WH1081 stations only in the solar powered 3xxx series and then only for the external sender not the console.
Lithium batteries are the best for both the console and the external sender.

Of course I mentioned about the transmitter batteries and then I start getting some weird measurements. Over 100mm per hour of rain that never happened and a wind gusts of 245km.
Mm, a charge of batteries was needed I think.
