Windows 7 Updates and CUMULUS Unattended Reboot

Post by philbertp2 »

Hi All,

CUMULUS is sending a flawless data stream for Tigard, OR (EW4932) to the CWOP for me. THANK YOU! Simply amazingly robust software.

So my question is, "now that I am on the NOAA NWS maps, how do I manage the many Windows 7 updates when I am not home?"

Right now, I have Windows 7 updates on manual so I can control all the program exits, including CUMULUS, before I inspect and load updates. I need to keep my system running for CWOP, so how do I set W7 updates on automatic when I am gone and ensure that CUMULUS has an orderly closure? Restarting is easy, you just drop the CUMULUS shortcut into the "Startup" folder.

I suspect that the flood up updates will continue and would like to hear how this has been resolved.

Thank you!
Phil

I have enabled remote desktop on mine, so I can log in remotely and manually shut things down if I need a reboot because of updates when I am away.

I have the server which runs Cumulus set for automatic updates, so it gets rebooted automatically, and I have never had an issue with Cumulus. Windows automatically closes it down cleanly. Make sure you don't have 'confirm shutdown' selected.

Steve,

I had it checked and now it is unchecked.
Should anything be checked in Program Settings box?

Great job on this software. The CWOP integration was seamless.

Thanks again for your attention to detail.

That's up to you, if you want to use any of those options. They wouldn't affect an automatic close down.
