I wish Cumulus would be LINUX compatible.
Been an XP user but I guess I have to give up on XP as many others have to. WIN7 no option on my computer.
I have installed Linux. Very pleased with it.
I was able to install Cumulus in Linux but as soon as Cumulus has started up it craches.
Would REALLY need a Linux friendly Cumulus.

We all wish that.
We need to throw money at Steve until it happens.

I'm working on it. For the last couple of weeks, it's what I've been spending most of my time on.

The new version probably won't be free. The donation model isn't working; it's not fair that some people donate (in some cases quite a lot) but the majority of users don't bother, but still get to use the software and get the same level of support. It was naive of me to think that most people who use Cumulus would actually be considerate enough to make a donation.
And... I want to give up my day job and work on Cumulus instead

I for one will be more than happy to pay for a Linux version of Cumulus.
If you need a beta tester, let me know.
A command line driven version for the Raspberry Pi would be nice too!

Hi Folks,
Now that support for XP is finished has any one tried RoboLinux with XP in its VM runing a FineOffset station and the Cumulus data manager?
Thanks,
wswat

My vote for a Linux version too.steve wrote:The new version probably won't be free. I'm one of the users who use the software but haven't donated for a while because the software is so stable I don't need to think about it.
Donation on its way

Hi.
You could always have a go at crowdsourcing to fund a development release. then develop some kind of maintenance/support framework subsequently.

Re: I wish Cumulus would be LINUX compatible.
I remember in the early days, many years ago, asking why you didn't charge for Cumulus
I thought the donation model would work but sometimes wonder if people are embarrassed knowing how much to donate. I know I have made a couple or more donations and nagged others who I help to but it is difficult to know when and how much. I think if you crack the Linux thing you should formalise charging. I seem to remember you didn't want the hassle but that didn't work did it! You seem more grumpy but I guess as I am the epitomy of a grumpy old man I can hardly talk! It must be fun or at least enjoyable for you otherwise don't do it!
Anyway, thanks again for the brilliant Cumulus!

Yes - I'm working on it. As soon as it's available for testing, you can be sure that I'll post an announcement in the forum.
