Unsure what to put into twitter.txt ???
Hello everyone!
I have been using Cumulus for a while for my student's weather station at school and now running at home with a Fine Offset unit here in Stoke on Trent.
Trying the twitter update add on and think it's fantastic but I'm not sure what to put into the twitter.txt file - do I use commas, etc, or just the tags I require?
Currently outputting (last tweet): Wind 12.4 mph W. Barometer 1016.0 mb, Rising slowly. Temperature 15.6 °C. Rain today 3.6 mm. Humidity 73%
- and would just like to add the Forecast.
Any hints or what should the file contain?
Twitter username: SixTownsWeather
Next stop - website and outputting to the various weather sites too.
Thanks.
Leigh.....

The twitter.txt file just contains whatever you want to tweet, using the web tags (as described in the help file) wherever you want your current readings substituted. So, for example, if the file contained:
That would come out, for example, as:
Bear in mind the Twitter 140-character limit. I think the longest Cumulus-generated forecast is about 40 characters, so allow for that when you construct your text. You couldn't add the forecast to the end of the tweet that you've quoted, for example, and expect it to work all the time.
Code: Select all
Wind <#wspeed> <#windunit>, Forecast: <#forecast>Code: Select all
Wind 12.4 mph, Forecast: Showery, bright intervalsSteve

Re: Unsure what to put into twitter.txt ???
The included twiter script works fine, but I can't get my custom script to upload. I composed it correctly, named it twitter.txt and put it in the same directory as culumus.exe, but no joy. Help, please. Thanks, lex

After you've put the twitter.txt in the application directory, does it continue to tweet the standard message, or does it stop tweeting?

It must be unable to find the twitter.txt file, but I can't imagine how. If you attach it here, I'll have a look at it, but I can't see how it would be a problem with the file itself. What version of Windows are you using?
