Wunderground rain fall total

Post by Red Raspberry »

I have a Vantage Pro 2. Never been happy with the Davis rainfall collectors. They get dirty and need frequent maintenance. So I use a couple of regular rain gauges and update the daily.txt file manually

I'm a member of CoCoRoaHS and use one of their recommenced rain gauges. I enter the rainfall data manually on a daily basis.

It would be nice if the total daily rainfall data could be uploaded to the Wunderground records at the start of a new day.

If you're suggesting this as a change to Cumulus, I don't really see how this would work given how the WU upload protocol works. If you're manually adjusting the daily total (in dayfile.txt?) after the day has finished, then you could also manually adjust the final entry at WU for that day (I'm guessing that's where WU gets its total for the day from). Does WU even allow amending of entries? And it would look a bit odd in the WU records, particularly if the total was lower than the actual total uploaded by Cumulus.

No you can not edit the data on Wunderground, just delete bad data.

There's nothing in the upload protocol about editing (or deleting) entries, you can only add new ones. So I can't see how Cumulus would be able to do what you suggest.
