Why do I get wind speeds of 403MPH?

I have an Ambient Weather station, model WS-2090. I was wondering how come I get wind speeds showing up on my screen under the high wind section of 403 MPH. This happens quite often. Thanks

It's probably because your station is a Fine Offset; it's what they do. There are hundreds of posts about this. But you also need to look at the FAQ:

i confirm what admin believes ... i have an old offset from maplin (the one without wind direction) and luckily very rare times will report over 100 miles wind (at old location the weather station was almost to the ground with about 50 meters far high buildings around it because was in a city) and also the temperature will show -10 for a reason ar windy winter days ... but for me was rare cases
