Cumulus long startup

Hi,
I hope this is the correct place to put this. When starting Cumulus it can take anything from a few seconds to over 5 minutes, most of the time when starting it is the latter, is this correct or is Cumulus trying to load files I can delete. I have also noticed when Cumulus is running when I come to use my computer the next day it runs very slow and I have to do a restart to bring everything back to normal!
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
HKB

Have you read
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#Cumulu ... t_start_up and is your Davis log interval different than your Cumulus interval?
Sorry, I can`t help on your computer running slow. I sometimes have my computer and Cumulus run continuous for over 2 weeks and no noticeable computer issue at all. My computer keeps running much longer but I shut down Cumulus twice a month so I can run Weatherlink for a few minutes to update its data.

I've moved this to the Davis section as it's nothing to do with web sites.
Regarding your computer running slow: have you looked in Task Manager to see how much CPU Cumulus is using? Do you use Virtual VP? What version firmware is your console running? What version of Cumulus are you using?

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the reply, checked the URL and now all sorted I think. I am new to running a weather station, only had my station since middle of last year and only had my own web site since Feb this year. If it's broke I can fix it, setting up a web site that is another thing, I have seen some great sites and would love to be able to set up my site like some of the sites I have seen, it took me three days and nights just to sort out how to get "real time" working! I was uploading everything but realtime.txt, I can sort out most things with computers working down to component level but setting up a web site is something that takes me a very long time to get to head around, maybe it's my age as I am getting on a bit.
The other day I was trying to add folders to my website, so too many things weren't in the root folder. Anyway, real time was working fine but when it came to local conditions, they were stuck to three days back. I took everything off the website, reloaded it and still no joy! I did eventually sort it, what and how I don't know. I just took web and web files off my laptop and replaced the web and web files folders on the desktop with the ones from the laptop.
As for the computer that, like me, is getting on a bit so maybe it's just that, I was in Hong Kong a few weeks back and left everything working and it all worked 100%, it's just when you start to use the computer it's just so slow but all is ok after a restart.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
HKB

Hi Steve,
Sorry for posting in the wrong place. Task Manager is showing between 01 and 03 and total CPU usage between 10% and 20% ish. No virtual VP, Davis Firmware v3.12 it a new station, Cumulus v1.9.4. (1089)

That all sounds fine. It could be that the long download was causing a slowdown - it causes a lot of diagnostic logging to take place which carries on in the background well after the download has finished.
