In the short term, I might be able to make it all just resize as it is, if that's any use?
Steve, although Cumulus 2 is THE priority, I would really, really enjoy some more flexibility with the Silverlight realtime display - as you indicated in a previous message, Weather Display Live, which I use on my main weather pages, offers a lot of flexibilities, but, alas, is not free...

Yes, that's probably it - I know some others with free hosting have had the same issue.

Yes - and actually I haven't done much to C2 in the last week or so; I'm a bit busy with house maintenance at the moment - why does
everything need attention at the same time? I have light switches failing, a drainpipe needing replacing, the shower is playing up, and I'm trying to get my chimney lined for the new stove. And I'm away on business for a week again, the week after next.
So I think maybe it
is time to have a change of activity on the Cumulus front, and revisit the Silverlight gauges, if I can find the time.

Steve...
...why does everything need attention at the same time?
Because it is fall and things have been pushed back throughout the summer...
...if I can find the time...
Come on, Steve, there are priorities in your life and neither Cumulus nor Silverlight are any of those priorities...

If you look in the error console in Firefox, or in IE click on the 'error on page' icon, it shows that the error is this:
Error: Unhandled Error in Silverlight 2 Application Invalid character in the given encoding. Line 6, position 14.
And in your CumulusRealtime.xml file, on lines 6 and 7, you have this:
<gustlabel>Nraz vetra</gustlabel>
<windlabel>Rchlos_ vetra</windlabel>
It looks like you have edited the file with an editor that doesn't handle UTF-8 correctly; it's encoded your accented 'a' character as hex E1, when in UTF-8 it should be a 2-byte sequence (C3 A1), and your accented 'y' character as FD, when it should be C3 BD. Actually, I think it's probably my fault for not putting the UTF-8 BOM on the start of the file. If I'd done that, your editor might have done the right thing.
Try the attached file and see how that goes.

Hi,
Just got myself a WS4000 as a late birthday present

I have been trying to setup the Cumulus realtime but I cannot get it to work.
Put the files in the WS4000 directory. Pointed the xml to the realtime.txt.
Nothing happens.
I don't have a clear error, the screen just stays silver-grey without showing any data...
Check:
http://www.berris.nl/ws4000/CumulusRealtime.html
This one works by the way:
http://www.berris.nl/ws4000/index.htm
Can anyone help me? I wish I could be more specific on what the error is, but I can't at this stage.
Tried IE and Chrome. Silverlight is installed.
Thanks,
Rob

Click on the yellow error icon in the bottom left hand corner in IE, or use the error console in Firefox, and it says:
Webpage error details
Message: Unhandled Error in Silverlight 2 Application
Code: 2103
Category: InitializeError
Message: Invalid or malformed application: Check manifest
Line: 53
Char: 13
Code: 0
URI:
http://www.berris.nl/ws4000/CumulusRealtime.html
Unfortunately, I don't know why you get that error. Perhaps the files have got corrupted somehow - you could try downloading a new copy and uploading that?

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your reply.
To describe what I tried myself to get it running would fill up a few pages.
So I won't do that.
But I didn't try to re-download and install again.
So I did that, and it worked

So now I wil think of an idea to supply realtime data without having a normal desktop PC running 24/7.
Any ideas are welcome!
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Rob

Well... to have realtime data, you have to have
something capable of internet uploads running. So... perhaps one of those very low power PCs - an eeepc or whatever they're called? I suppose it depends on why you can't/won't have a PC running all the time - cost/noise/safety etc?

Rob, just curious...
How are you going to make the data captured by your weather station available on a Web server (where it is needed to be processed by the realtime software) ... unless you are using a weather station (or an adaptor such as the Davis WeatherLink IP for their Vantage Pro consoles) that makes that weather data available to other software connected to the Internet!

Hi,
I have a NAS running which has some capabilities of hooking up USB devices.
And you can have some 3rd party applications running on it as well.
So that's what I had in mind. And ofcourse I could leave a PC running 27/7. That's probably the most easy solution.
But the NAS would be my first option. That's already up and running all the time.
I will start digging that route to see if it comes up with any possible solutions.

Rob
