Yes, but the console did save the max gust which Cumulus did not retrieve when it restarted. The timing of the gust was given as 15.43 even though the station timestamps are 15.38, 15.48 etc. It's that disparity which confuses me.
Cumulus does not fetch the maximum values for each variable because the station doesn't send them either. It stores them in a different kind of memory. The only thing you'll see in Cumulus are the snapshots it took when it saved the data to the 10 minute memory, i.e. you had 20 mph at 15:30 and 15 mph at 15:40. If you had 32 mph at, for example 15:34, it won't transfer it to Cumulus regardless of it showing in the console when you tap the wind speed a couple times to show the maximum value, because the only values in the memory that can be transferred to Cumulus are the 15:30 and 15:40 ones. Anything in between won't go, unless you change the data log interval with an application.

Hope we aren't all clashing here.

Well I think that's what I've been banging on about all the time :D Steve, you said "All the other individual values it had been writing for the last 10 minutes have gone for ever, as they have been overwritten"... and also "Your max gust figure at 15:23 was in one of the sets of data which had been overwritten"... but the max value was saved... saved in the "different kind" of console memory... anyway I'll just keep Cumulus running next time there's a hurrricane

Apologies for driving you guys up the wall, I'm just a bit thick :bash:

Just to clarify everything, including for Steve, maybe, what was being talked about here was the maximum value you get when you press the wind speed a couple times to get the maximum. That is not transferred by Cumulus because it can't do so, and it's stored in a different memory chip.
And we're all here to discuss and learn, you didn't drive anyone up the wall. :)
