I may be very stupid but I cannot see/read how to download Cumulus data from my Instromet weather station to PC. I cannot even workout how to edit the dayfile.txt and then save that to a PC/backup. I would like to download to Excel as I know how to manipulate that. Please help this idiot.

I assume you have downloaded and installed Cumulus, if not do so. Start Cumulus, select Configuration / Station and select Instromet at the bottom of the stations, set Lat/Long and your station metric i.e. mm/in, mph/kph, etc. and then click on OK. Close Cumulus. Then attach your station to your PC I presume via USB but not having and Instromet that is a guess, make sure it appears in the Device Manager and then start Cumulus.
Depending on whether or not an Instromet has a logger you should see Cumulus downloading data, if it doesn't you should see Cumulus getting the update from the station only.

In the Cumulus station configuration you will need to supply the com port number. So if you're using a serial/USB adapter, you'll need to have that installed first so you know what com port to use. And once you have Cumulus set up to read data from your station, if you want to view the data in Excel rather than in Cumulus (to perform your own operations on the data, for example), the log files and dayfile.txt are in CSV format, so you can just get Excel to read them (or copies of them, preferably, for safety). The formats of the log files are in the wiki.
